Reflections on 2019, and beyond

Bayer Ballet's Artistic Director,

Inna Bayer

⁣⁣⁣

This year is a very significant one for me, 14 years since Bayer Ballet was founded. It’s an emotional moment, as I watch my first students, who started training with me at the age of 3 years old, graduate from high school and Bayer Ballet Academy. I am filled with pride, as I reflect on their early years and individual journeys. I am proud of the people they have become - compassionate, mindful, and hardworking. I would like to express my gratitude to these individuals and their families for their dedication, trust and support over the years.

As an educator, I take this responsibility very seriously and realize that it can’t be done without the support of our teachers, mentors and parents. Together, we are paying careful attention to every detail to build a safe, nurturing place for young people to explore the art of dance and thrive, as they acquire such essential life skills.

Thank you for making 2019 a remarkable year!

Community Outreach: We delivered several performances throughout the year to create accessibility to the art of the Vaganova method, while providing an opportunity for the dancers to give back to our community, through events with the City of Mountain View and an Outreach Performance of The Snow Queen , serving 600 individuals from underserved communities. We were honored to have the Mayor of the City of Mountain View, Lisa Matichak present for this community event. Mayor Matichak shared her vision for the significant role that the arts play in our community.

Goal for 2020: Expanded community outreach to create accessibility and share the art of ballet. Seek grants and sponsors to support the implementation of an outreach program to expand reach into underserved communities.

Vaganova Center of Excellence: Creating a hub for emerging artists to gather, facilitating access to world-renowned master artists and faculty. This year we held a variety of master classes and workshops , including: Karine Plantadit, Gary Lewis, Adonis Daukaev, Veronika Part, Ludmila Raianova, and Olga Voloboueva, to name a few. Guest Artists performed with our dancers, giving accessibility to professional dancers in the industry. We also extended our Professional Training program through a new Pre-Professional Division.

Goal for 2020: Continue creating accessibility to world-renowned artists and developing our Professional Training program to include a full-day/full-time training program.

Dedication: We are very proud of the dedication shown towards training and rehearsals, which resulted in (6) successful performances throughout the year; as well as a number of achievements , including, YAGP - 2019 & 2018 Outstanding School & Outstanding Teacher; Prix de Lausanne Acceptance (Taratorin & Panchenko), YoungArts Finalist Winner (Taratorin). It’s rewarding to watch Bayer Ballet's dancers grow, technically and artistically. Congratulations, dancers!

Goal for 2020: Keep raising the standard of excellence .
