PRE-BALLET INSTRUCTOR

​

Position Summary

​

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about creating a nurturing environment for children ages 3-8 years to explore the art of ballet.  The successful candidate is dedicated to creating an inspired learning environment, which upholds mutual respect, while keeping the student’s health and well-being the top priority.  Through a structured curriculum, the young dancers are provided with a solid foundation to develop artistic and physically, while developing self-confidence.

Upon graduation from the pre-ballet division, dancers are provided with the necessary foundation to transition into the Vaganova Method of training, which begins at the age of 9 years. The Pre-Ballet program is delivered across six levels, through a holistic curriculum that focuses on training young dancers through a healthy, steady and gradual process, while promoting artistic development through coursework, which develops their flexibility, strength, coordination, grace, self-awareness and expression, rhythm and musicality.

​

Reporting to the Pre-Ballet Division Director, the candidate will deliver the Academy’s level-appropriate curriculum, consisting of technical, artistic, musical, performance and psychological skill development; while inspiring and nurturing students to achieve their full potential and providing them with a solid foundation to further their dance training in the upper levels. The candidate is responsible for imparting, with passion, the art and technique of classical ballet by creating an environment, which:

  • promotes the welfare of all students;

  • is welcoming, safe, and inspired for the students;

  • promotes enthusiasm for ballet training and encourages an open mind to accepting corrections and receiving feedback;

  • teaches and maintains responsibility for the proper studio discipline and dance class etiquette; 

  • and develops self-discipline and mutual respect of their classmates; while,

  • delivering, individualized, constructive feedback and encouragement to improve their artistry and technique.

 

The position will include:

  • under the direction of the Pre-Ballet Division Director, prepare for performances and outreach events; 

  • recording and reporting student attendance;

  • monitoring progress and providing assessments to the students;pi

  • providing assessments to the students; as well as, progress reports and recommendations for level placement to the Pre-Ballet Division Director and Artistic Director to enable their growth within the program.

 

The candidate will work with the Pre-Ballet Division Director to develop and implement an actionable plan to grow the program. 

​

As a faculty member, the position may also be involved with teaching other levels, as needed.  All faculty are expected to participate fully in the ongoing daily activities of the Academy, which may include interacting with faculty, staff and pianists; attending regular meetings, staff continuing education, performances, demonstrations, lectures, auditions, special events; and may be invited to teach during the summer session, if the program requires such support.

Minimum Qualifications

​

  • must have three years of experience as a Ballet Instructor;

  • references for successful teaching required;

  • must pass background check;

  • work ethic that is professional, proactive, flexible and collaborative;

  • personable communicator, who maintains professionalism with students, parents, staff and colleagues;

  • basic knowledge of Google for Business/MS Office products - training will be provided, as needed (used for record attendance, evaluations, written reports and internal communications);

  • willingness to be CPR/First Aid certified;

  • complies with Bayer Ballet’s policies to ensure health and welfare of students;

  • supports and provides equal and fair treatment for all.

OFFICE MANAGER​

Position Summary

Location: Bayer Ballet (Mountain View, CA)

This front of house position maintains a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the studio every day for our students and team. 

​

Schedule

Full-Time Position (36 - 40 hours/week)

Full availability to work afternoon/evenings, weekends. Must occasionally be available to work 6 days a week if needed.  Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays required; other shifts flexible

​

Tasks Include:

  • Creating a fun and effective work environment

  • Being knowledgeable on all policies and procedures put forth in the studio

  • Creating new and innovative ways to increase enrollment & improve processes

  • Answering phone calls, emails, attend to customer needs, respond to feedback and resolve issues

  • Oversees Studio/Building needs - Ensuring facility is prepared, maintained and light cleaning

  • Managing inventory – count, analyze, investigate as needed, place orders, stock shelves

  • Motivating others, setting expectations and ensuring team are providing exceptional customer service

  • Maintaining and updating studio documents, forms, signs, and charts

  • Accounting - Collects Payments and Deposits - receivables

  • Master Teacher, Guest Teacher, Guest Dancers Hospitality

  • Front Desk Coverage as needed

Minimum Qualifications

​

The Ideal Candidate:

  • experienced team leader or has held a supervisory role

  • passionate about ballet and dance;

  • customer service experience;

  • impeccable communication skills;

  • phenomenal grammar, spelling, and punctuation;

  • very familiar and efficient in Google Suite;

  • efficient typing, Internet and social media savvy;

  • extremely detail oriented, organized and priority driven – keeping track of small details and organizing tasks;

  • a natural leader with utmost integrity and a professional attitude at all times;

  • confident, personable and comfortable speaking to groups;

  • exceptional critical thinking skills, resourceful and a creative problem solver;

  • proactive, self-starter who is passionate, driven and focuses on actions and results;

MASTER BALLET INSTRUCTOR

The successful candidate will enthusiastically instruct students of all ages, primarily 8-18 years, and levels using the Russian Vaganova classical ballet methodology (“Vaganova Method”), including technique, repertoire, performance, competition and audition preparation.  Duties to also include, but not limited to:

  • developing original choreography using the Russian Vaganova methodology;

  • preparing ballet repertoire;

  • managing preparations of ballet reproductions; 

  • staging performances;

  • recording and reporting student attendance;

  • monitoring progress and providing assessments to the students;

  • preparing students for performance and competition to assure highest production quality, through additional classes, coaching and rehearsals, as required;
