I VOTE for Bayer Ballet  / Moscovian Kadril

THANK YOU!

———

Thank you to the team, who brought this piece to life: choreography by Rafael Ibatulin, coaching by Artistic Director, Inna Bayer and Marina Osipova. We are proud of our dancers!  “Moscovian Kadril” (Quadrille), which is also known as the dance of the Moscow suburbs. In late 18th- and 19th-century it became fashionable, and was typically performed by four couples in a quadratic shape.  Character dance is an integral component of the Vaganova method of classical ballet...Folk traditions have been incorporated into what is known as ballet for centuries but it was not until Aleksandr Shirayev, Assistant to Marius Petipa, that character dance became a unique and codified art-form that takes its rightful place as an integral part of classical ballet.
